About Kim Miller

Hi, I'm Kim. I launched être to help empower individuals to thrive in their careers through personalized coaching, workshops, and expert guidance. I'm an organizational leader, college professor, and advocate for equitable and inclusive workspaces. I am dedicated to empowering people to create meaningful, values-driven careers. With over 20 years of experience in academic leadership, nonprofit management, and organizational development, I've built my career around a simple belief: everyone deserves to work in alignment with their core values and to advocate for themselves with confidence.

As an educator, mentor, and equity-centered leader, I've spent decades transforming institutions into more inclusive spaces while helping individuals find their voices and claim their agency. My expertise spans leadership development, strategic planning, governance, and capacity building, but what drives me most is being the person others turn to for career guidance and negotiation advice.

Whether you're navigating a career transition, preparing for a difficult conversation, or simply seeking to align your work with what matters most to you, I'm here to help you build the skills, confidence, and strategic thinking you need to thrive. My approach combines practical tools with deep understanding of the challenges facing today's diverse workforce.

Together, we'll ensure your career becomes a powerful reflection of your authentic self and your deepest values. Let's get to work!

My Story

I've spent over twenty years helping people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds discover their voices and step into their power. As a college Professor, I've had the joy of watching countless students - from nervous first-years to confident PhD candidates - find their footing and claim their dreams. My work has always been about creating spaces where people feel truly heard, whether that's in my classroom, during office hours, through my research collaborations with scholars around the world, or in the leadership roles I've held building more equitable institutions. I believe deeply that everyone has something important to contribute, and my job is to help you figure out what that is and how to share it with the world.

What I love most about my work is meeting people exactly where they are: no judgement, just genuine curiosity about your goals and challenges. Whether you're a high school student wondering about college, a new graduate navigating your first job search, or a seasoned professional ready for your next chapter, I bring the same warmth and attention I've always given my students and colleagues. Over the years, I've guided people through everything from intimidating negotiations to difficult conversations about workplace equity to ambitious research and funding agendas. I've seen firsthand how the right support and encouragement can transform not just careers but entire lives. My former students often tell me I helped them find their voices, but honestly, I just created the space for them to discover what was already there.

My approach combines all the strategic knowledge I've gained through decades in higher education - including securing over 30 major grants, designing and managing leadership programs, and building programs from the ground up - with the deep listening and genuine care that my students say made all the difference. I understand that taking that first step toward change can feel scary, which is why I work to create a judgement-free space where you can explore your ideas, work through your concerns, and build the confidence to advocate for yourself.

Whether we're talking about your college applications, your career transition, your questions about work-life balance, or your vision for making a difference in the world, I'm here to listen, support, and help you turn those ideas into reality. I work with individuals at all career stages, from emerging professionals to seasoned leaders navigating strategic transitions. I also partner with organizations to build more inclusive workplaces and develop executive leadership capacity. My unique ability to translate complex institutional knowledge into actionable strategies means my clients benefit from working with someone who understands not just the mechanics of professional advancement but the broader systems and relationships that shape success in today's evolving workplace.

On a personal note, I am also the proud parent of two young adults, one of whom is still navigating college. So I understand firsthand the hopes, concerns, and dreams that come with these important life transitions. Originally from Colorado, I am happiest when I'm outdoors, whether that's hiking mountain trails or simply finding quiet moments in nature to reflect and recharge. These experiences remind me daily of my own core values: the importance of taking time to listen, the beauty that comes from different perspectives and terrain, and the strength we find when we support each other along the journey.
